ReportingCloud

Creating an Account

Topic

Every ReportingCloud account starts as a free 30-day trial, created on the registration page of the ReportingCloud portal with your name, email address and a password. The template storage of the trial already holds a demo template, so you can create a first document as soon as you have an API key. What follows covers the sign-up, the email verification, the first login and what happens to the account after 30 days.

What the Trial Includes

  • Duration. 30 days. Afterward, the account becomes a Free account automatically, unless you have added a subscription.
  • Quotas. 20 templates in the template storage, up to 1,000 documents a month and a spell checking quota of 10,000 requests a month.
  • The demo template. The template storage of a new account holds sample_invoice.tx, an invoice template with merge fields and a merge block for the line items. The Getting Started tutorials merge it.
  • Restrictions. Every document carries the ReportingCloud logo at the top left of the page, and PDF/A is not available. Test mode, which creates documents with a "TEST MODE" watermark, works on a trial, but only its test runs of POST /v1/document/convert and POST /v1/document/append are left out of the document quota; see Test Mode.
  • No commercial use. The services agreement doesn't allow trial and Free accounts in business or commercial applications.

Plans and Licensing compares the trial with the paid plans.

Sign Up for the Trial

  1. Open the registration page of the portal, https://portal.reporting.cloud/Account/Register/. In the portal, Register as a new user on the login page leads there as well.

  2. Enter your First name, your Name and your Email. The email address becomes the user name of the account.

  3. Enter a Password and repeat it in Confirm password. The password needs 6 to 100 characters, among them at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one character that is neither a letter nor a digit. It must not contain a colon.

  4. Complete the reCAPTCHA check below the password fields.

  5. Select both check boxes. With the first, you accept the Services Agreement. With the second, you agree that your personal and processing data are transferred to a country outside the European Economic Area, including the United States. Both are required.

  6. Click Register.

Data Security and Privacy explains which data ReportingCloud stores and where it is processed.

Verify Your Email Address

Part of the sign-up is the verification of the email address you entered. It is mandatory: the service can't be used before the address is verified. Once it is, the account is ready and you can log in.

Log In to the Portal

  1. Open https://portal.reporting.cloud/.
  2. Enter your Email and Password. Select Remember me? to stay logged in on this computer.
  3. Complete the reCAPTCHA check.
  4. Click Log in.

The dashboard opens with your recent activity, the status of the service and your quota. Forgot your password? on the login page resets a forgotten password. Portal describes the dashboard and the other pages of the portal.

Find the Demo Template

Click My Templates in the side menu of the portal. The list shows sample_invoice.tx, the template the tutorials of this documentation merge. Template Storage explains how to upload, edit and delete templates, and how to add more samples from the template gallery.

To merge it from your own code, your application needs credentials. Text Control recommends an API key over the password you signed up with; API Keys shows how to create one.

After 30 Days

When the trial ends, the account is downgraded to a Free account automatically. A Free account creates up to 100 documents a month and has further limitations, and like a trial, it may not be used in business or commercial applications. Plans and Licensing lists the rules for both.

The Manage Account page of the portal shows two buttons on a trial account:

  • Add Subscription turns the account into a paid account with the serial number of a subscription. See Upgrading to a Subscription.
  • Convert to Free makes it a Free account at once, before the 30 days end. See Manage Account.
