Upgrading to a Subscription
A trial or Free account can't go into production: the services agreement doesn't allow it in business or commercial applications, and every document of a trial carries the ReportingCloud logo. To use ReportingCloud in production, you buy a subscription for one of the paid plans in the Text Control online store and add its serial number to the account you already have. The account keeps its user name and becomes a paid account with the quotas of your plan.
The steps below take you from choosing a plan to checking the new quotas in the ReportingCloud portal and with the Web API.
Before You Start
- Choose a plan. Basic, Standard, Premium and Extreme differ in the templates the storage holds, the documents per month and the spell checking transactions per month. Only Extreme creates PDF/A. Plans and Licensing compares them.
- Check the template storage quota. Basic holds 10 templates, fewer than the 20 of the trial. If your storage already holds more templates than the plan allows, choose a larger plan or delete templates you don't need.
- Choose monthly or yearly. Every plan is sold as a monthly subscription and as a yearly subscription.
- Have your ReportingCloud login ready. You add the serial number on the Manage Account page of the portal, logged in with the account that is to become the paid account.
Buy a Subscription
The Text Control online store is part of the Text Control website, www.textcontrol.com. The earlier store address, account.textcontrol.com, only points to the website now.
- Open the ReportingCloud pricing page of the online store. It shows the yearly subscriptions of the four plans.
- Click See full pricing details for the complete price list. It lists the monthly subscription licenses, the annual subscription licenses and the licenses that renew a yearly subscription.
- Click Add to cart next to the subscription you want, and complete the order in the cart.
- After the payment, sign in to your Text Control account with Sign in on
www.textcontrol.com. Your account lists the subscription with its serial number.
The price list names each subscription with a product code:
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | RC-0100-CB-M | RC-0100-CB-S |
| Standard | RC-0100-CS-M | RC-0100-CS-S |
| Premium | RC-0100-CP-M | RC-0100-CP-S |
| Extreme | RC-0100-CE-M | RC-0100-CE-S |
A yearly subscription is renewed with the pre-renewal licenses of the price list before its expiry date, or with the post-renewal licenses up to 30 days after it. For questions about plans and orders, contact the Text Control sales team.
Find the Serial Number
Your Text Control account lists the serial number of the subscription, a string of 13 characters. Copy it from there.
Warning
One Account per Serial Number. A serial number belongs to no ReportingCloud account until you add it to one. You can add it to any account, but only once, so add it to the account that your applications use.
Add the Serial Number in the Portal
Log in to the portal at
https://portal.reporting.cloud/with the account that is to become the paid account.Click Manage Account in the Account section of the side menu. On a trial account, Serial number shows Trial, followed by the buttons Add Subscription and Convert to Free.

Click Add Subscription.
Enter the serial number and confirm with Add Serial Number.
Manage Account then shows the values of your subscription: Serial number shows the serial number, Subscription valid until the date the subscription ends and Documents per month and Template quota the quotas of your plan. Manage Account describes the page in full.
Convert to Free, the other button, does something else: it turns the trial into a Free account, which has a lower document quota than the trial.
Check the Subscription With the Web API
GET /v1/account/settings returns the subscription and the quotas of the account, so a script or a monitoring job can check them:
curl "https://api.reporting.cloud/v1/account/settings" \
"Authorization: ReportingCloud-APIKey $REPORTINGCLOUD_API_KEY"
After the upgrade, the response shows:
serialNumber: the serial number of the subscription, instead ofTrial.validUntil: the date the subscription is valid until, in UTC.maxDocuments, maxTemplatesandmaxProofingTransactions: the quotas of your plan.
What Changes After the Upgrade
- Quotas. The document quota, the template storage quota and the spell checking quota are those of your plan. See What Counts Against Which Quota.
- Logo. The ReportingCloud logo that a trial puts on every document no longer appears. Documents created in test mode still carry the "TEST MODE" watermark.
- Test mode. On a paid plan, a test run of any of the four document endpoints doesn't count against the document quota. On a trial, the test runs of
POST /v1/document/mergeandPOST /v1/document/findandreplacedo. See Test Mode. - Commercial use. The services agreement allows the account in end-user applications for private and commercial purposes.
