Installation and Package Restore
TX Spell .NET for Windows Forms comes as NuGet packages that the setup provides in the package source Text Control Offline Packages, and as assemblies in the Assembly folder of the installation for .NET Framework projects. The packages aren't published on nuget.org. Most installation problems come from the package source, the target framework or the choice of package. Installation Guide describes the installation in full.
The Package Isn't Found
Visual Studio or dotnet restore doesn't find TXTextControl.TXSpell.WinForms.SDK or TXTextControl.TXSpell.Core.SDK.
The packages aren't on nuget.org. The setup of TX Spell .NET adds them to the package source Text Control Offline Packages.
- Install the setup of the full version, TX Spell .NET for Windows Forms 11.0 with SP1.exe, or of the trial version on the development machine. See Installing the Product.
- Choose Project > Manage NuGet Packages..., select Text Control Offline Packages as the package source, and search on the Browse tab.
- Install the package.
Configuring Package Sources describes the package sources.
The Package Doesn't Fit the Target Framework
The package installs without an error in a project for the .NET Framework, .NET 5, .NET 6 or .NET 7, but the build fails:
error CS0246: The type or namespace name 'TXTextControl' could not be found
The packages of version 11.0 contain assemblies for .NET 8 only. NuGet accepts them in older projects because of the language data they contain, but adds no assembly reference. The package of version 10.0 supported .NET 5, .NET 6 and .NET 7. Projects for the .NET Framework don't use the packages: they reference the assemblies of the installation.
- Set the target framework of a .NET project to .NET 8 or higher, then rebuild.
- In a .NET Framework project, uninstall the package and reference TXSpell.dll and TXSpell.Windows.Forms.dll from the Assembly folder of the installation instead.
.NET and .NET Framework lists the supported versions.
The Spell Checker Component Is Missing
The package is installed, but the project doesn't know the TXSpellChecker component or its dialog boxes.
The packages contain different assemblies. TXTextControl.TXSpell.Core.SDK contains only TXSpell.dll, with the class TXSpell, which checks text without a user interface. TXTextControl.TXSpell.WinForms.SDK adds TXSpell.Windows.Forms.dll with the component TXSpellChecker, its dialog boxes and its context menu.
- In a Windows Forms application, install
TXTextControl.TXSpell.WinForms.SDK. - Keep
TXTextControl.TXSpell.Core.SDKfor .NET and ASP.NET Core applications without a user interface.

A Sample or an Old Project Doesn't Build
A sample from GitHub or a project written for an earlier version doesn't build after you installed version 11.0.
The project references the assemblies of version 10.0 or 11.0, sometimes with a path to the installation directory of an earlier version, or it uses packages of an earlier version.
- In a .NET Framework project, remove the references to the TX Spell .NET assemblies and add them again from the Assembly folder of your installation.
- In a .NET project, change the target framework to .NET 8 or higher, and update the packages to version 11.0.1.
- Rebuild the project.
Update an Older Sample describes the changes for the samples on GitHub, and Service Packs the update to Service Pack 1.
