Troubleshooting
A package isn't found, the spell checker can't be declared in XAML, or TX Spell .NET reports that it can't find its dictionaries. What you see usually tells you where to look, and each page of Troubleshooting starts from such a symptom, quotes the message where TX Spell .NET shows one, explains the cause and gives the steps that fix it.
Find the Right Page
| If you see | Read |
|---|---|
| A TX Spell .NET package isn't found, doesn't install or lacks the class you need | Installation and Package Restore |
| The spell checker isn't in the toolbox or not known in XAML, or spell checking doesn't start | Toolbox and Designer |
| A dialog about the trial version appears every fifteen minutes | Licensing |
| "Neither a Dictionaries directory was found", a wrong language, or no hyphenation or synonyms | Dictionaries Not Found |
| An application that checks spelling on your machine but not on the machine of a user | Deployment |
| Some misspelled words aren't marked, a call throws an exception, or the Document Editor marks no words | Spell Checking |

Most problems are quicker to solve with the right information at hand:
- The message. The messages about missing language data name the folder that TX Spell .NET looked for, and some add the path it searched. See Dictionaries Not Found.
- The folders next to the application. TX Spell .NET reads its language data from four folders: Dictionaries, HyphenationLists, SynonymLists and LanguageRecognition. Check that they exist in the folder of the executable.
- The package version. The current version is 11.0.1, which is Service Pack 1 of version 11.0. See Service Packs.
Where to Start
- A new project doesn't build: start with Installation and Package Restore, then Toolbox and Designer.
- Spell checking doesn't work: Dictionaries Not Found first, then Spell Checking.
- The application fails on another machine: Deployment first, then Dictionaries Not Found.
If a problem started after an update, check the Breaking Changes of the versions you skipped. The Deployment Guide describes the files an application ships.
When none of these pages solves the problem, Text Control's support team helps registered users and developers who evaluate the trial version free of charge; Getting Help says how to reach it.
