What's New in TX Text Control ActiveX 15.1
Version 15.1 of TX Text Control ActiveX gave images, text frames and OLE objects an identifier and a name to find them by, and built drag and drop into TXTextControl. It also made the display colors of the controls changeable, exported images in a chosen format, lifted the 400 percent zoom limit in two view modes and extended the mouse wheel.
Read on for the features, the new members and the extended members that version 15.1 added since version 15.0.
New Features
- Images, text frames and OLE objects. Images, text frames and OLE objects can have an identifier, a name or both, set with the ObjectUserId and ObjectName properties. The ObjectGetFromUserId and ObjectGetFromName methods look for the image, text frame or OLE object with a given identifier or name. The new ObjectInsertionMode property changes how an object behaves in the text after it has been inserted or loaded. The ObjectTextflow property is no longer read-only. The ObjectPosX and ObjectPosY properties get or set the position of an object.
- Drag and drop.
TXTextControlhas built-in drag and drop. The AllowDrop property makes the control a target for data the user drags onto it, and the AllowDrag property makes it the source of a drag and drop operation. The control accepts text formatted as Rich Text Format, HTML Format or plain text, and images formatted as device dependent or device independent bitmaps, TIFF images or Windows metafiles. While the user moves the cursor over the control, a non-blinking caret shows the insertion point where the data is inserted. By default, drag and drop moves text; with the CTRL key pressed, it copies text. The ESC key cancels the operation. - Display colors. The colors that TX Text Control uses for the display elements of the toolbars and of
TXTextControlcan be changed. By default, the controls have a fixed color table for the standard Windows themes. The supported standard themes are the Windows XP standard theme luna.msstyles (colors Blue (NormalColor), Olive Green (Homestead) and Silver (Metallic)), the Windows XP Media Center Edition standard theme royale.msstyles (colors NormalColor and Royale) and the Windows Vista and Windows 7 standard theme aero.msstyles (color NormalColor). With any other theme, the default colors depend on the theme colors; with no theme selected, they depend on the system colors. The TXTextControl.DisplayColor, TXButtonBar.DisplayColor, TXRulerBar.DisplayColor and TXStatusBar.DisplayColor properties set the colors of each control. - Saving images. Two new attributes of the LoadSaveAttribute property, txImageExportFormat and txImageSaveMode, export all images of the document in a given format and save mode.
- Unlimited zoom factor. The ZoomFactor is no longer limited to 400 percent when the ViewMode property is set to 0 - Normal View or 2 - Page View. In the other view modes, the zoom factor is still limited to 400 percent.
- Mouse wheel. With the SHIFT key pressed, the mouse wheel scrolls the visible part of the document horizontally; with the CTRL key pressed, it zooms the document.
