TX Text Control .NET Server
TX Text Control .NET Server is a set of components for document processing in .NET applications. Your code creates, loads, changes, converts and saves documents on the server, and your users edit, read, fill out and sign them in the browser. All of it runs on one document engine, so a template designed in the editor is the same document your backend merges with data and saves as PDF.
Nothing else has to be installed alongside it. TX Text Control reads and writes DOCX, RTF, HTML, PDF and the other formats itself, so no Microsoft Word and no Adobe Acrobat are involved, and with the Core engine the same application runs on Windows and on Linux, in a container or in an App Service.
What You Can Build
| Task | Read |
|---|---|
| Generate invoices, contracts and reports from a template and your data | Mail Merge and Reporting |
| Create, change and convert documents in code, without a user interface | Document Processing |
| Give users an MS Word compatible editor in the browser | Document Editor |
| Let users read documents, annotate them and fill out forms | Document Viewer |
| Create PDF, PDF/A and accessible PDF/UA documents, or import and change existing PDFs | PDF Processing |
| Sign documents with a certificate, and validate the signatures | Digital Signatures |
| Summarize, analyze and chat with documents using a language model | AI Integration |
Who This Documentation Is for
It is written for .NET developers, and it assumes you know C# and the framework you are building on. It does not assume you know anything about TX Text Control.
- Building document processing into a backend: start at Document Processing.
- Putting an editor or a viewer into a web application: start at the Integration Guide, which covers ASP.NET Core, Angular, React, JavaScript and Blazor.
- Deploying and operating the result: start at the Deployment Guide, then Security and Performance and Scalability.
How This Documentation Is Organized
The navigation on the left follows the order you meet the product in.
- Overview explains what the components are, how they fit together, which platforms and file formats are supported, and how licensing works.
- Installation Guide covers system requirements, the NuGet and npm packages, licenses, and upgrading from an earlier version.
- Getting Started builds a first working application, step by step, for each component.
- The component sections — Document Editor, Document Viewer, Document Processing, Mail Merge and Reporting, PDF Processing, Digital Signatures and AI Integration — are the working documentation of what each part does.
- Integration Guide, Deployment Guide, Security and Performance and Scalability take an application from a framework to a running, hardened deployment.
- Troubleshooting and Examples are what you open when something does not work, or when you want working code to start from.
- What's New lists the changes in each version, including breaking changes.
- API Reference documents every namespace, class, property, method and event, for .NET and for the JavaScript, Angular, React and REST interfaces.
Where to Start
- Introduction: what the product is and which building blocks it consists of.
- System Requirements: the .NET versions, operating systems and browsers that are supported.
- Package Overview: which NuGet packages you install, and which engine they bring.
- Create Your First Application: a working application in a few minutes.
- Online Demos: see the components running before you write any code.
Getting Help
- Something does not work. Troubleshooting collects the common problems with the NuGet feed, licenses, the Document Editor connection, Linux, Docker and fonts, and how to fix them.
- You need working code. Examples lists the online demos and the sample repositories of Text Control on GitHub, which receive new samples regularly.
- You need Text Control's support team. Registered users and developers who evaluate the trial version get free technical support. Submit a ticket in the Support Center of your Text Control account; the support engineers answer in English and German. A subscription adds support by telephone and email with an unlimited number of incidents, as described in the Licensing Overview.
