Upgrade Guide
A project that already uses TX Text Control .NET for Windows Forms moves to version 34.0 in one of three ways: a service pack updates the version it uses, a new major version replaces an earlier one, and a .NET Framework project can move to .NET 8 or higher at the same time. An application built with TX Text Control ActiveX takes a fourth path: its code is ported to a Windows Forms project. Find the path that fits your project below, and the changes your code may need.
Choose Your Path
| Your project | What to do | Read |
|---|---|---|
| Uses version 34.0 and needs the latest service pack | Install the latest full setup. In .NET projects, update the NuGet package. | Installing the Product, Installing and Updating Packages |
| Uses an earlier major version, such as 32.0 or 33.0 | Install version 34.0, update the references or the package, and check the breaking changes | Upgrading from Previous Versions |
| Runs on the .NET Framework and should move to .NET | Convert the project, replace the references with the NuGet package and delete licenses.licx | Migrating from .NET Framework to .NET |
| Any of the above | Check what your code has to change | Breaking Changes |
| Uses TX Text Control ActiveX and should move to .NET | Create a Windows Forms project and replace each ActiveX property, method and event with its .NET counterpart | Migrating from ActiveX |
Before You Upgrade
- Check your subscription. New major versions are included while your subscription is active. See Licensing Overview.
- Check the target framework. Since version 33.0, the NuGet package requires .NET 8 or higher. See .NET and .NET Framework.
- Read the breaking changes of every version between yours and 34.0 before you change the project.

- Upgrading from Previous Versions: move a .NET Framework or .NET project from an earlier major version to 34.0.
- Migrating from .NET Framework to .NET: convert the project, switch to the NuGet package, and handle class libraries and charts.
- Breaking Changes: the changes of versions 30.0 to 34.0 that a Windows Forms project may need, and the obsolete members.
- Migrating from ActiveX: the .NET counterparts of the properties, methods, events and tool bars of TX Text Control ActiveX.
