A refactoring for PHP 8.1, which dropped PHP 7.4, was the work of 2022 on the PHP SDK and its Laminas module. Packagist lists the result as releases 4.0.0 to 4.0.6 of the former package `textcontrol/txtextcontrol-reportingcloud`, which still use the namespace `TxTextControl\ReportingCloud`. [How the 2022 Releases Relate to PHP SDK 4.0](#how-the-2022-releases-relate-to-php-sdk-4-0) sets them apart from PHP SDK 4.0 of 2023.

### Changes at a Glance

| Date | Change |
|---|---|
| June 24 to July 7 | The PHP SDK and its Laminas module refactored for PHP 8.1 |
| July 7 | Releases 4.0.0 to 4.0.6 of the former PHP SDK package and 4.0.0 to 4.0.7 of the former Laminas module package |

### SDKs

- **Refactoring for PHP 8.1 (June 24 to July 7).** The repository of the PHP SDK, [txtextcontrol-reportingcloud-php](https://github.com/TextControl/txtextcontrol-reportingcloud-php), received its last code changes: a refactoring for PHP 8.1 compatibility that removed the support for PHP 7.4. Its change log lists them under "future 4.0.0".
- **Former PHP SDK package, 4.0.0 to 4.0.6 (July 7).** Packagist lists releases 4.0.0 to 4.0.6 of `textcontrol/txtextcontrol-reportingcloud` with the date July 7, 2022. All seven point to the same commit, the last of the PHP 8.1 refactoring, so they contain the same code. They require PHP 8.0 or later and keep the namespace `TxTextControl\ReportingCloud`. The repository has no release notes for them; its last GitHub release is 3.0.0 of June 21, 2021.
- **Former Laminas module package, 4.0.0 to 4.0.7 (July 7).** The Laminas module, then published as `textcontrol/txtextcontrol-reportingcloud-laminas-module`, followed with releases 4.0.0 to 4.0.7 of the same date, which also require PHP 8.0 or later.
- **Releases 2.6.3 to 2.6.8 (July 7).** Packagist also lists releases 2.6.3 to 2.6.8 of the former PHP SDK package with the same date. They point to one commit outside the main branch, which requires PHP 8.1, and the change log has no entry for them.

### How the 2022 Releases Relate to PHP SDK 4.0

The change log of the current package dates PHP SDK 4.0.0 to September 10, 2023 and lists the PHP 8.1 refactoring among its changes, together with the new namespace `TextControl\ReportingCloud`. The 2022 releases are that refactoring under the former package name and namespace, before the move to `textcontrol/textcontrol-reportingcloud` described on [2023](https://docs.textcontrol.com/reporting-cloud/whats-new/2023/llms-full.txt).

### Upgrading

- **Check the PHP version.** A version constraint such as `^4.0` on the former package installs the 2022 releases, which require PHP 8.0 or later. A project on PHP 7.4 stays on release 3.0.0.
- **Prefer the current package.** Packagist marks the former package as abandoned. For a new installation or an update, require `textcontrol/textcontrol-reportingcloud` as [Installing an SDK](https://docs.textcontrol.com/reporting-cloud/installation/sdks/llms-full.txt) shows, and follow the namespace change on [2023](https://docs.textcontrol.com/reporting-cloud/whats-new/2023/#upgrading).
