TX Spell .NET for Windows Forms checks spelling in 38 languages with the dictionaries Text Control offers, and in any other language that has a Hunspell dictionary. For each language, the table below shows what is available: a dictionary for spell checking, a hyphenation list, a thesaurus for synonyms, and language detection.

### What Comes With the Product

The NuGet packages and the setup bring the language data of US English: the dictionary *en\_US.dic* with its affix file, the hyphenation list *hyph\_en\_US.dic*, the thesaurus *th\_en\_US\_v2* and the data for language detection. Everything else is downloaded, at no extra cost.

Text Control offers the tested language data as 47 archives, one per language or region, named *dictionary.<locale>.zip*, such as *dictionary.de\_DE.zip*. Each archive has up to three folders, *Dictionaries*, *HyphenationLists* and *SynonymLists*, whose contents go into the folders of the same names in your application. Download them from the dictionary pages of [TX Spell .NET for Windows Forms](https://www.textcontrol.com/product/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/download/dictionary/), and see [Installing Dictionaries and Language Data](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/installation/language-data/llms-full.txt) for where the files go.

In the **Language** dialog of TX Text Control, small icons show for which languages a dictionary and a hyphenation list are installed:

### Languages and Their Data

All 47 archives contain a dictionary, 32 a hyphenation list and 24 a thesaurus. [Hyphenation Lists](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/hyphenation/lists/llms-full.txt) names the file of each hyphenation list, and [Hunspell and OpenOffice Dictionaries](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/dictionaries/hunspell/llms-full.txt) the file of each dictionary, which doesn't always match the archive, such as *de\_DE\_frami.dic* for German.

### Language Detection

Language detection finds out in which language each part of a text is written. It needs no dictionaries, only the file in the *LanguageRecognition* folder, and it knows 34 languages: the ones with a code in the table above, and Galician, Lithuanian and Ukrainian, for which Text Control offers no dictionary. [Language Detection](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/dictionaries/language-detection/llms-full.txt) describes which of them are looked for by default and how to use it.

### Right-to-Left Languages

Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu have dictionaries, but no hyphenation lists; only the Arabic archive *ar* has a thesaurus. Text in these languages is checked like any other, as [Right-to-Left Languages](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/dictionaries/right-to-left/llms-full.txt) describes.

### Other Dictionaries

TX Spell .NET reads the Hunspell dictionaries of OpenOffice.org, which exist for more than 60 languages. A dictionary that Text Control doesn't offer can be added in the same way, as [Hunspell and OpenOffice Dictionaries](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/dictionaries/hunspell/llms-full.txt) shows. Words of a special field, such as legal or medical terms, go into a user dictionary; [User Dictionaries](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/dictionaries/user/llms-full.txt) explains how.

The dictionaries have licenses of their own, named in the files of each archive; [Check the License of Each Dictionary](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/dictionaries/hunspell/#check-the-license-of-each-dictionary) describes them.

### Languages of the User Interface

The languages above are the languages TX Spell .NET checks. The texts of its dialogs are in English, or in German with the satellite assembly the packages bring; [Localization and Resource Kit](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/user-interface/localization/llms-full.txt) translates them into other languages.
