When did TX Spell .NET for Windows Forms learn to hyphenate, detect languages or offer a spell check dialog of its own? Versions 3.0 to 6.0, released between 2012 and 2015, added much of what the spell checker still does today, and each has a page with its features, its service packs and its new classes and members. They help when you maintain an application built on one of these versions, or when you want to know how long a feature has been there.

The versions from 7.0 on are described in [What's New](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/whats-new/llms-full.txt), together with their service packs, breaking changes and deprecated APIs.

### Versions at a Glance

| Version | Released | Released with | What it brought |

| [5.0](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/whats-new/older-versions/0500/llms-full.txt) | September 2014 | TX Text Control X11 | Language detection for more than 30 languages with `DetectLanguageScopes` |
| [4.0](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/whats-new/older-versions/0400/llms-full.txt) | November 2013 | TX Text Control X10 | Hyphenation with Hunspell hyphenation lists, checking per language, right-to-left dictionaries, compressed and asynchronously loaded dictionaries |
| [3.0](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/whats-new/older-versions/0300/llms-full.txt) | September 2012 | On its own | Suggestions ranked by keyboard distance, the customizable spell check dialog, new events, dictionaries from memory, `GetMenuItems`, the `TXSpell` class |

The dates are those of the release announcements on the Text Control Blog. The download package holds only the last installer of each version, which carries the date of its last service pack, so its dates aren't release dates. Each version was released for Windows Forms and WPF on the same day.

### What the Version Pages Contain

Each page opens with the release date and the focus of the version, then describes its features and links to the pages that explain them in today's version. Most of these features are still part of TX Spell .NET, so the version pages keep to what changed and leave the details to the feature pages.

- **Service packs.** The service packs of the version, with the dates of their announcements and the names of their setups.
- **New classes and members.** The classes, properties, methods and events that the What's New documentation of the version lists, grouped by class, each linked to its current reference page.
- **Errors of the old documentation.** Where the What's New documentation of a version names a member that doesn't exist, the version page says so. [Version 4.0](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/whats-new/older-versions/0400/llms-full.txt) is the case: its documentation names a property `TXSpellChecker.Hyphenation`, which is really `HyphenationLanguage`.

### Where to Start

1. **Maintaining an application on one of these versions?** Open its page, then the pages of the versions after it for what an upgrade gains.
2. **Upgrading to the current version?** Read [Breaking Changes](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/whats-new/breaking-changes/llms-full.txt) and [Upgrading from Previous Versions](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/installation/upgrading/previous-versions/llms-full.txt).
3. **Looking for the version of a feature?** Start with the table above; [Version 7.0](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-winforms/whats-new/0700/llms-full.txt) and the later version pages cover everything since.
