TX Spell .NET for WPF adds spell checking to a WPF application. You place the component in your window and connect it to the control whose text should be checked: misspelled words are marked as the user types, suggestions are offered, and a dialog walks through the document word by word. It works with TX Text Control, with the standard WPF text controls, and with text you hand it directly.

Spelling is not all of it. The same component hyphenates text, detects which language a passage is written in, and looks up synonyms, so one set of language data serves the spelling, the line breaks and the thesaurus in your application.

The language data is the freely distributable Hunspell dictionaries from OpenOffice, which cover more than 60 languages, including right-to-left languages such as Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew and Urdu. English is installed with the component; the others are downloaded and shipped with your application.

### What It Gives Your Application

| Task | Main classes |
|---|---|
| Check spelling as the user types, or on demand | [TXSpellChecker](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-wpf-proofing/txspellchecker/llms-full.txt) |
| Walk a user through the misspelled words with suggestions | [SpellCheckDialog](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-wpf-proofing/spellcheckdialog/llms-full.txt) |
| Check against dictionaries in the Hunspell and OpenOffice format | [OpenOfficeDictionary](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-proofing/openofficedictionary/llms-full.txt) |
| Let users add their own words, and keep them between sessions | [UserDictionary](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-proofing/userdictionary/llms-full.txt) |
| Hyphenate text with Hunspell hyphenation rules | [HyphenationList](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-proofing/hyphenationlist/llms-full.txt) |
| Offer synonyms from a thesaurus | [SynonymList](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-proofing/synonymlist/llms-full.txt) |
| Detect which language a passage is written in | [LanguageScope](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-proofing/languagescope/llms-full.txt) |
| Check text in code, with no control and no user interface | [TXSpell](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-proofing/txspell/llms-full.txt) |

Any number of dictionaries and user dictionaries can be loaded at the same time, so a document written in more than one language is checked in all of them. One spell checker serves every control in a window — you do not need an instance per editor.

With TX Text Control, connecting the two takes no C# or Visual Basic code: declare the spell checker as a resource in XAML, set the editor's spell checker to its key and switch on spell checking, and misspelled words are underlined as they are typed and corrected from the context menu.

### Who This Documentation Is for

It is written for .NET developers building WPF applications, and it assumes you know C# or Visual Basic and XAML. It does not assume you know anything about TX Spell .NET, or that you use TX Text Control: the component checks other controls just as well.

### The .NET API

The [.NET API](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/dotnet-api/llms-full.txt) is divided into two namespaces.

| Namespace | What is in it |
|---|---|
| [TXTextControl.Proofing](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-proofing/llms-full.txt) | The language data and what is common to both platforms: dictionaries, user dictionaries, hyphenation lists, synonym lists, and the events that report an incorrect word. |
| [TXTextControl.WPF.Proofing](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-wpf-proofing/llms-full.txt) | What belongs to WPF alone: the spell checking component, the spelling and options dialogs, and the controls they are built from. |

### Where to Start

1. [Overview](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/overview/llms-full.txt): what the component does and what the language data is.
2. [Installation Guide](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/installation/llms-full.txt): what has to be in place first.
3. [Getting Started](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/getting-started/llms-full.txt): checking a first document.
4. [TXSpellChecker](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/reference/txtextcontrol-wpf-proofing/txspellchecker/llms-full.txt): the class you will spend the most time in.

### Getting Help

- **Something does not work.** [Troubleshooting](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/troubleshooting/llms-full.txt) collects the common problems with packages, the toolbox, licenses, dictionaries and deployment, and how to fix them.
- **You need working code.** [Examples](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-spell-dotnet-wpf/examples/llms-full.txt) lists the samples the setup installs and the sample repositories of [Text Control on GitHub](https://github.com/TextControl).
- **You need Text Control's support team.** Registered users and developers who evaluate the trial version get free technical support, and the support engineers answer in English and German.
