TX Text Control runs in server mode on Microsoft *Internet Information Server* (IIS), which has to be installed first. IIS can run on a dedicated server, or you activate it on your development computer: then you develop and test a server application on the same computer, without access to a separate server.

At some point, you will most likely transfer the application to a dedicated server, and your TX Text Control license has to go with it. The sections below describe what the license allows and the steps of the transfer.

### What the License Allows

The license agreement entitles you to have TX Text Control installed on your local computer and on a single server at the same time. After the transfer, you continue to maintain your application with the local copy of TX Text Control.

### Transfer the License to a Server

1. Copy the files listed in [Distributing Your Applications](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/deployment/redistribution/llms-full.txt) from your local computer to a single directory on the server. They are in the *\\bin* subdirectory of your TX Text Control installation.
2. Copy *txregsvr.exe* from the *\\tools* subdirectory of your TX Text Control installation to a directory on the server.
3. On the server, run *txregsvr.exe*. It is a command line tool that creates the registry keys TX Text Control needs to run on a server. It takes two parameters: the file name and path of the TX Text Control ActiveX file, and your serial number. Run without a parameter, it displays usage information.
4. Remove *txregsvr.exe* from the server. It isn't a redistributable file, so it must not be kept on the server.
