Beyond the forms of a desktop application, TX Text Control ActiveX works in two other settings: as an automation server without a user interface, in scripting engines such as Windows Scripting Host or Internet Information Server, and in applications that scale with the DPI setting of the system. The pages below cover both, with Active Server Pages in VBScript as the main example of server use.

### Find the Right Page

| If you want to | Read |
|---|---|
| Create, convert or print documents from Active Server Pages | [ASP and VBScript](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/integration/asp/llms-full.txt) |
| Know which properties and methods a `TXTextControl` can't use as an automation server | [Server Programming](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/integration/automation-server/llms-full.txt) |
| Make an application system DPI aware with a manifest embedded by *Mt.exe* | [Setting the DPI Awareness](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/integration/dpi-scaling/llms-full.txt) |

### Where to Start

1. For server use, read [ASP and VBScript](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/integration/asp/llms-full.txt) and work through its sample programs.
2. Keep [Server Programming](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/integration/automation-server/llms-full.txt) at hand: it lists the members that need a visible surface, such as dialog boxes, and don't work after [EnableAutomationServer](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txtextcontrol/enableautomationserver-method/llms-full.txt).
3. For a desktop application such as a Visual Basic 6 word processor, read [Setting the DPI Awareness](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/integration/dpi-scaling/llms-full.txt).

## In This Section

- [ASP and VBScript](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/integration/asp/llms-full.txt): Run TXTextControl without a user interface in IIS: assemble, convert and print documents in VBScript, fill them from databases and return PDF over HTTP.
- [Server Programming](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/integration/automation-server/llms-full.txt): Run TXTextControl as an automation server in Windows Scripting Host or IIS with EnableAutomationServer, and see the dialog and display members it can't use.
- [Setting the DPI Awareness](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/integration/dpi-scaling/llms-full.txt): Make a Visual Basic 6 application with TX Text Control DPI aware: write a dpiAware manifest and embed it in the executable with Mt.exe from the Windows SDK.
