# FontItalic Property

Returns or sets the italic font style. At design time the property determines the style of the complete text. At runtime the property gets or sets the style of the selected text if the [FormatSelection](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txtextcontrol/formatselection-property/llms-full.txt) property has been set to True. If the [FormatSelection](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txtextcontrol/formatselection-property/llms-full.txt) property has been set to False the style setting is made for the complete text.

### Syntax

```vbscript
TXTextControl.FontItalic [= value]
```

| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| 0 | Resets the italic font style to normal or indicates that no character is formatted with the italic font style. |
| 1 | Sets all characters to the italic font style or indicates that all characters are formatted with the italic font style. |
| 2 | Indicates that the selection contains a mix of italic and not italic characters. This value is only possible at runtime and when the [FormatSelection](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txtextcontrol/formatselection-property/llms-full.txt) property has been set to True. |
