# FormFieldDateFormat Property

> Sets or returns the Day, Month and Year Format Picture string that displays a date field's date; an empty string uses the default of the text's language.

This property sets or returns the format string which is used to display the date of a date field. For a certain date field the format string should be one of the strings returned through the [TXTextControl.FormFieldDateFormats](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txtextcontrol/formfielddateformats-property/llms-full.txt) property. A TextControl uses Day, Month, and Year Format Picture strings to format a date. When this property is an empty string, a default format is used depending on the language set for the date field's text.
