# SelStart Property

> Sets or returns the zero-based start of the selection or the insertion point; values beyond the text length are limited, and -1 moves it to the document's end.

Returns or sets the starting point of text selected or indicates the position of the insertion point if no text is selected. The first text position has a value of 0.

```vbscript
TXTextControl.SelStart [= value]
```

### Limitations

Run time only.

### Remarks

Setting the property value greater than the text length limits it to the existing text length. Setting this property to -1 will set the starting point for a selection to the document's end.
