# TableSplit Method

> Splits a table above or below the input position; above the first or below the last row it inserts a new line instead, to add text around a nested table.

Splits a table below or above the current input position. If the table does not contain the current input position, it cannot be split. The [TableCanSplit](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txtextcontrol/tablecansplit-property/llms-full.txt) property can be used to determine whether a table can be split or not. If a table is split above the first row, a new line is inserted above the table and if a table is split below the last row, a new line is inserted below the table. This is useful to insert text above or below a nested table that immediately starts and/or ends at the beginning or the end of the cell in which it is nested.

### Syntax

```vbscript
TXTextControl.TableSplit Position
```

### Parameters

| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Position | Specifies where to split the table. Possible values are the following: |

#### Position

| Constant | Description |
|---|---|
| txTableInsertInFront (1) | The table is split above the current input position. |
| txTableInsertAfter (2) | The table is split below the current input position. |

### Return Value

The method returns True, if the table can successfully be split. The method returns False, if an error has occurred or if the current input position is not within a table.
