# What's New in TX Text Control ActiveX 18.0

TX Text Control ActiveX 18.0 places images, text frames and OLE objects in front of or behind the text in a z-order, makes text frames transparent, reads EMF images and gives the status bar a new design. The features, properties and methods added since version 17.0 are listed below.

### New Features

- **Z-order.** All images, text frames and OLE objects in the text now have a z-order. Each of them can be in front of or behind the text, and their order among each other can be changed:


    - [ObjectTextflow](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txtextcontrol/objecttextflow-property/llms-full.txt) supports objects in front of and behind the text. Depending on the mode, the text overwrites the object or the object overwrites the text.
    - [ObjectChangeZOrder](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txtextcontrol/objectchangezorder-method/llms-full.txt) changes the z-order. It moves an image, text frame or OLE object up or down one plane, or to the topmost or bottommost position.
    - Objects inserted inline always have a z-order of zero.
- **Transparent text frames.** A transparent text frame lets images and other text frames behind it show through. [ObjectTransparency](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txtextcontrol/objecttransparency-property/llms-full.txt) sets the transparency as a value from 0 to 255: zero means opaque and 255 completely transparent.

- **Images.** TX Text Control now supports the EMF image format (Windows Enhanced Metafile). The EMF and WMF formats are handled internally without an image filter, so the WMF image filter is no longer needed. - **New status bar design.** The [TXStatusBar](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txstatusbar/llms-full.txt) has a new background style with a vertical color gradient and separator lines between its display parts, and a track bar that sets the zoom factor of a `TXTextControl`. All colors follow the Windows theme or are user-defined with [TXStatusBar.DisplayColor](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txstatusbar/displaycolor-property/llms-full.txt). The new style `sbVerticalColorScheme` is set with [TXStatusBar.Appearance](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-activex/reference/txstatusbar/appearance-property/llms-full.txt).
