Creating, converting or changing documents in code, without showing an editor to a user, is the job of the `ServerTextControl` class. The following tutorials introduce server-side document processing with it for .NET developers.

### What ServerTextControl Is

`ServerTextControl` is TX Text Control without a user interface. You create an instance in code, for example in an ASP.NET Core application, a console application or a service, create, load or change a document through its properties and methods, and save the result as DOCX, PDF or another format. [ServerTextControl](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/overview/components/servertextcontrol/llms-full.txt) in the Overview describes what it does, where it runs and its key members.

If your users need to edit or view documents in the browser, use the [Document Editor](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/getting-started/document-editor/llms-full.txt) or the [Document Viewer](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/getting-started/document-viewer/llms-full.txt) instead.

1. [Create Your First Application](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/getting-started/document-processing/first-application/llms-full.txt) — choose between Core and Classic, install the NuGet package from the Text Control private NuGet feed, and create your first DOCX and PDF document in a console application.
2. [Load a Document](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/getting-started/document-processing/load/llms-full.txt) — load DOCX, RTF, HTML, PDF and other formats from a file, a byte array or a string, and use `LoadSettings` for Word templates.
3. [Create a Document](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/getting-started/document-processing/create/llms-full.txt) — build a document in code with text, character and paragraph formatting, a table and a header.
4. [Save as DOCX and PDF](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/getting-started/document-processing/save-docx-pdf/llms-full.txt) — save to a file or a byte array, return a PDF from an ASP.NET Core controller, and save HTML or plain text.

After this section, continue with [Mail Merge](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/getting-started/mail-merge/llms-full.txt) to fill templates with data, or with [PDF Processing](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/getting-started/pdf/llms-full.txt) to work with PDF files in more depth.
