Formatting styles, the input position and the formatted lines and characters of a document became objects of the class library in TX Text Control 10.1. These classes are still the basis of text formatting and text navigation in TX Text Control .NET Server.

Version 10.1 was released in April 2003 as a free update of the ActiveX and .NET editions, as the blog article [TX Text Control 10.1 Released -- FREE UPDATE](https://www.textcontrol.com/blog/2003/04/29/tx-text-control-101-released-free-update/) announced. `ServerTextControl` didn't exist yet: it came with [Version 12.0](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/whats-new/older-versions/1200/llms-full.txt). What's new in version 10.1 is documented as a list of new classes and members only, without a description of features.

### Formatting Styles

- **Two kinds of styles.** An [InlineStyle](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/inlinestyle/llms-full.txt) formats single words in a line, and a [ParagraphStyle](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/paragraphstyle/llms-full.txt) formats whole paragraphs, including their [ParagraphFormat](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/paragraphstyle/paragraphformat-property/llms-full.txt) and [ListFormat](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/paragraphstyle/listformat-property/llms-full.txt). Both derive from [FormattingStyle](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/formattingstyle/llms-full.txt), which holds the character attributes such as [FontName](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/formattingstyle/fontname-property/llms-full.txt), [FontSize](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/formattingstyle/fontsize-property/llms-full.txt), [Bold](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/formattingstyle/bold-property/llms-full.txt) and [ForeColor](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/formattingstyle/forecolor-property/llms-full.txt).
- **Collections.** [InlineStyleCollection](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/inlinestylecollection/llms-full.txt) and [ParagraphStyleCollection](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/paragraphstylecollection/llms-full.txt) contain the styles of a document; their `Add`, `GetItem` and `Remove` methods add, find and remove styles.
- **Apply a style.** [FormattingStyle.Apply](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/formattingstyle/apply-method/llms-full.txt) applies the attributes of a style to the document, and [Selection.FormattingStyle](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/selection/formattingstyle-property/llms-full.txt) gets or sets the style of the selected text. [ParagraphStyle.FollowingStyle](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/paragraphstyle/followingstyle-property/llms-full.txt) names the style of the paragraph that follows when a user presses ENTER.
- **Inherited attributes.** [InlineStyle.IsInheritedFromParagraph](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/inlinestyle/isinheritedfromparagraph-method/llms-full.txt) tells whether attributes of an inline style come from the surrounding paragraph, and [InlineStyle.ResetToParagraph](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-server/reference/txtextcontrol/inlinestyle/resettoparagraph-method/llms-full.txt) resets them to its values.
