Visual Studio is where you build applications with TX Text Control .NET for Windows Forms: its designer places the controls on your forms, and its toolbox holds them. Which versions of Visual Studio work with version 34.0, which languages and project templates you use, and how the product integrates with Visual Studio are summarized below.

### Supported Versions

| Visual Studio | Source |
|---|---|
| Visual Studio 2026 | Text Control tested version 34.0 with Visual Studio 2026: the NuGet packages, the toolbox, the designers and the project templates. |
| Visual Studio 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2022 | Listed as development environments in the requirements documentation |

The .NET and .NET Framework versions for your projects are listed in [.NET and .NET Framework](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-winforms/installation/requirements/dotnet/llms-full.txt).

### Languages

TX Text Control .NET for Windows Forms supports C# and Visual Basic in all three editions. The tutorials select the language when a project is created. The code in this documentation is C#.

### Project Templates

You create a Windows Forms project with one of two Visual Studio templates. When you create the project, select your language, **Windows** as the platform and **Desktop** as the project type to find them:

| Template | Framework | TX Text Control files |
|---|---|---|
| **Windows Forms App** | .NET 8 or higher | The NuGet package `TXTextControl.TextControl.WinForms.SDK`, installed with **Project** > **Manage NuGet Packages...** from the source **Text Control Offline Packages** |
| **Windows Forms App (.NET Framework)** | The .NET Framework, for example 4.8 | The assemblies of the setup, with the toolbox tab the setup creates |

The template for .NET is described as "A project template for creating a .NET Windows Forms (WinForms) App":

The template for the .NET Framework is described as "A project for creating an application with a Windows Forms (WinForms) user interface":

### How TX Text Control Integrates With Visual Studio

- **The setup** adds the toolbox tab **TX Text Control 34.0**, the designers and the local package source **Text Control Offline Packages**. It has to be installed on every development machine that uses the designer. See [Installing the Product](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-winforms/installation/setup/llms-full.txt).
- **The NuGet package** contains a designer assembly and a toolbox manifest, so in a .NET project, the toolbox items appear once the package is added. Only the items the project can use are shown.
- **The designer for .NET projects** is supported since version 31.0. Version 30.0 already supported .NET 5 and .NET 6, but without the Visual Studio designer and the toolbox.

[Visual Studio Toolbox and Designer](https://docs.textcontrol.com/tx-text-control-dotnet-winforms/installation/toolbox/llms-full.txt) describes the toolbox items and the smart tags.
