Deprecated APIs
If you maintain an application built on an older version of TX Spell .NET for Windows Forms, you don't have obsolete members to replace. The API reference of version 11.0 marks no class, property, method or event of the TXTextControl.Proofing namespace as obsolete, and the What's New notes of versions 7.0 to 11.0 name none that was removed.
How the API Has Changed
Since version 7.0, each major version has only added to the API. New members give you more control, but the members they sit next to keep working as before:
| Version | Added | The previous behavior, which still applies when you don't use them |
|---|---|---|
| 10.0 | Dictionary.DisplayName, SynonymList.DisplayName | The dialog boxes show the value of Name |
| 9.0 | ShowDialogSettings, SpellCheckDialog.ShowDialogSettings, SpellCheckDialog.Location and the ShowDialogSettings overloads of OptionsDialog | The dialog boxes open centered on the screen |
| 9.0 | The four DirectoryPath properties of TXSpellChecker and TXSpell | The language data is read from the application's root folder |
| 8.0 | Dictionary.ShowInOptionsDialog | Every dictionary is listed in the options dialog |
| 7.0 | The synonym classes, CreateSynonyms and UserDictionary.FilePath |
Version 11.0 added no members. Its changes are the target framework and the NuGet packages, which Version 11.0 describes.
When You Upgrade
Because no member is obsolete, the calls your code makes need no replacement. What an upgrade does need, such as a newer target framework, is listed on Breaking Changes, together with the changes in behavior to test.
