What's New in TX Text Control .NET for Windows Forms 22.0
Version 22.0 moved the image handling of TX Text Control .NET for Windows Forms to the Windows Imaging Component, which added TIF and GIF to the formats images can be exported in. The Windows Forms TextControl also received two built-in color dialog boxes and a marker that shows the input position while the control is inactive, and PDF documents could carry JavaScript actions.
Version 22.0 was released in April 2015 as TX Text Control X12, together with TX Spell .NET 6.0, as the blog article TX Text Control X12 and TX Spell 6.0 Released announced. Most of the version's work went into the HTML5 Web Editor of TX Text Control .NET Server and into the WPF controls, which got a new button bar, ribbon tabs and dialog boxes. Neither is part of TX Text Control .NET for Windows Forms, so their features aren't listed here.

Images
TX Text Control uses the Windows Imaging Component (WIC), the imaging framework of Windows based on the Component Object Model, to load and save images and their metadata. Two export formats were added: Tagged Image Format (TIF) and Graphics Interchange Format (GIF). Image.ExportFilterIndex selects the format for one image, and SaveSettings.ImageExportFilterIndex for all images of a document. See Images, Text Frames, and Shapes.
Dialog Boxes
Two methods of TextControl open new built-in dialog boxes: ForeColorDialog sets the color of the text, and TextBackColorDialog sets its background color. Both return the DialogResult of the dialog box. Built-in Dialog Boxes lists the dialog boxes of the current version.
Document Processing
- JavaScript in PDF documents. SaveSettings.DocumentLevelJavaScriptActions takes an array of scripts that are embedded at document level and run when the PDF document is opened. PDF/A documents don't get them. See PDF Creation and Conversion.
- Input position marker. InputPosition.InactiveMarker shows a marker at the input position while the
TextControlis inactive and its blinking caret isn't visible. - Scroll to the input position. InputPosition.ScrollTo scrolls the input position into view.
- Fields and targets at the input position. TextField.ContainsInputPosition and DocumentTarget.ContainsInputPosition tell whether a field or a target is at the input position.
- Headers and footers of a page. Page.Header and Page.Footer return the header and the footer of a page, or
nullif the page has none. See Sections, Pages, Headers, and Footers.
Upgrade to Version 22.0
The update notes of version 22.0 concern TX Text Control .NET for WPF only: its button bar replaced several properties with Items, BorderBrush and BorderThickness, and its TextControl lost the MousePosition property and can be used only after its own Loaded event. The Windows Forms ButtonBar and TextControl aren't affected.
