Getting Started
If TX Text Control ActiveX is new to you, start with a working program. The Visual Basic tutorials of the product build word processors and mail merge applications from sample projects step by step, and the ASP samples use TXTextControl in server-side scripts on Microsoft Internet Information Server. The first tutorial takes you from an empty Visual Basic project to a small word processor.
Where to Start
- Install TX Text Control as described in the Installation Guide, then work through Creating a Simple Word Processor. It places
TXTextControl,TXButtonBar,TXRulerBarandTXStatusBaron a form, connects them and adds menus for formatting, the clipboard and files. - Continue with A Word Processor, the TXWords sample, which adds page setup, printing, search and replace, paragraph frames and color dialog boxes.
- Open the tutorial of the feature you need from the table below.

Visual Basic Tutorials
The tutorials describe how to use TX Text Control with Microsoft Visual Basic. Most of them explain a sample program whose source code is in a directory below Samples\vb6, such as Samples\vb6\Simple for the first tutorial and Samples\vb6\TXWords for the word processor.
- Document Editor. The tutorials in Document Editor cover files, drag and drop, document properties, images, text frames, headers and footers, fields, XML and printing.
- Mail Merge. The three steps of Mail Merge insert the contents of database fields at specified positions in a prepared document, print more than one record and generate templates dynamically. Connecting to Databases stores the entire contents of a
TXTextControlin a database field.
ASP Samples
Simple Sample Programs create TXTextControl in a server-side script and generate dynamic content: a PDF file, a table, formatted text and tables, merged documents and a printed document. ASP and VBScript lists the prerequisites and an advanced online store example.
