TX Text Control ActiveX

What's New in TX Text Control ActiveX 11.0

Topic

The oldest version in this history, TX Text Control ActiveX 11.0, brought nested tables and table splitting, an undo buffer with multiple undo and redo, control over the resolution and compression of saved images, PDF document security and a flat ruler bar design.

Version 11.0 followed version 10.1. Its features, its new members and its update notes come next.

New Features

  • Nested tables. A table can be inserted in another table; such a table is called a nested table. The nesting level is not limited, and all text filters of TX Text Control import and export nested tables. Nested tables use the same properties and methods as top-level tables. The TXTextControl.TableNext method lists all top-level and nested tables in the order they appear in the text flow. Further new properties and methods get the nesting level of a table and its outer or outermost table.
  • Table splitting. The TXTextControl.TableSplit method splits a table below or above the table row that contains the current input position. If the original table has an identifier, both parts keep it; a TXTextControl.TableCreated event occurs for the bottom part, so that your application can change the identifier of that part. If a table is split above its first row, a new line is inserted above the table; if it is split below its last row, a new line is inserted below the table. This inserts text above or below a nested table that starts or ends directly at the beginning or the end of the cell it is nested in.
  • Multiple undo. A new undo buffer supports multiple undo and redo operations, and it covers many more features, such as images, text fields and all table operations. The new TXTextControl.StartUndoAction and TXTextControl.EndUndoAction methods bundle several property calls into a single undo action. The new TXTextControl.AllowUndo property activates or deactivates the undo buffer. Deactivating it saves time and memory, for example when TXTextControl is used as a report generator.
  • Image resolution and compression quality. When images are embedded in a document with their complete binary data, a lower resolution and a different quality of the data compression reduce the file size. By default, TX Text Control uses the default resolution of the image and a default value for the data compression. The txImageCompressionQuality and txImageMaxResolution settings of the TXTextControl.LoadSaveAttribute property change these values for all images of the document. The TXTextControl.ImageExportCompressionQuality and TXTextControl.ImageExportMaxResolution properties override them for a single image.
  • PDF document security. New parts of the LoadSaveAttribute property set the standard PDF security features. You set both passwords: a user password that allows opening the document and a master password that allows changing the current access permissions. The txDocAccessPermissions part sets individual access permissions.
  • Ruler bar design. The ruler bar has an additional flat design. It is the new default, and the new Appearance property still sets the previous look.
