API Reference
The API Reference documents every property, method and event of the controls and objects of TX Text Control ActiveX, sorted in alphabetical order on the page of each control or object. Next to it, the programming overview sorts the members of TXTextControl by programming category, lists the data types the reference uses, gives the mouse and keyboard interface of the control and lists the functions that table cell formulas support.
Start with the control or object you work with, or with a category when you know the task but not the member.
Controls and Objects
| Control or object | Description |
|---|---|
| TXTextControl Control | The TXTextControl control is the main control that is used to display and edit a text document. Its large number of properties, methods and events are listed in alphabetical order on its page and sorted by category in the Programming Categories chapter. |
| TXButtonBar Control | A TXButtonBar control represents a button bar for a TXTextControl. It offers several combo boxes and buttons and can be designed by the programmer. |
| TXRulerBar Control | A TXRulerBar control represents a ruler bar for a TXTextControl. It can be used to set paragraph attributes like indents and tabulators and the horizontal alignment of table cells. |
| TXStatusBar Control | A TXStatusBar control represents a status bar for a TXTextControl. It shows the page, line and column number of the current text input position, the zoom factor and some key states. It can also display an info text. |
| Style Object | A Style object is an OLE Automation object that represents a formatting style. To get a style or to iterate through all existing styles, use the Styles collection object. To create a new Style object with the CreateObject function, use its class name TIS.TX.Style.34. |
| Styles Collection Object | A Styles collection object is an OLE Automation object whose members represent all formatting styles a TXTextControl document contains. The members of a Styles collection object are OLE Automation objects of the Style class. A Styles collection object can be obtained with the TXTextControl.Styles property. |
| XMLElement Object | An XMLElement object is an OLE Automation object that represents an element in an XML document. To iterate through all existing XML elements, use the XMLElements collection object. To create a new XMLElement object with the CreateObject function, use its class name TIS.TX.XMLElement.34. |
| XMLElements Collection Object | An XMLElements collection object is an OLE Automation object whose members represent all XML elements with a certain tag name. The members of an XMLElements collection object are OLE Automation objects of the class XMLElement. An XMLElements collection object can be obtained with the TXTextControl.XMLElements property. |
| Obsolete Properties, Methods and Events | Members of TXTextControl that are obsolete, such as the RTF and text import and export methods and the hyperlink and VT Speller members of earlier versions. |
Programming Overview
Four pages look at the reference from the side of the task rather than the control:
| If you want to | Read |
|---|---|
| Find every member for one task, such as tables, fields or printing | Programming Categories |
Look up the size and range of a data type such as Long or Variant | Data Types |
| Know what a mouse action or key does in the control | Mouse and Keyboard Assignment |
| Look up a function for a table cell formula | Supported Formula Functions |
