Older Versions
Is a feature older than version 30.0, and in which version did it arrive? Every major version from 29.0 back to 10.1, the oldest version that the What's New documentation covers, has a page with its features, its update notes and its new classes and members. They serve developers who maintain an application built on one of these versions or upgrade it.
The versions from 30.0 on are described in What's New, together with their service packs, breaking changes and deprecated APIs.

The dates are those of the release announcements on the Text Control Blog; for version 12.0, the server product followed in November 2005. The names in parentheses are the names under which the versions were sold. The download package holds only the last installer of each version, which is usually that of a later service pack, so its dates aren't release dates.
How the Versions Were Named
From version 18.0 to version 29.0, Text Control sold TX Text Control under X names: version 18.0 was TX Text Control X8, and each major version counted one up to version 29.0, TX Text Control X19. From version 30.0 on, the product is named after its version number.
The server product changed its name as well. Version 21.0 was the first one sold as TX Text Control .NET Server; before, the server components were part of products such as TX Text Control Server for ASP.NET. The version pages name the products of each version.
What the Version Pages Contain
Each page starts with the release date and the focus of the version and then describes its features by component, as far as they concern TX Text Control .NET Server: document processing with ServerTextControl, mail merge, PDF, the Document Editor and the Document Viewer. Features that only the Windows Forms and WPF controls received are left out.
- Update notes. Changes to existing classes and members, and the changes that can require work in an upgrade, such as the new handler type of
View.Changedin Version 24.0 and the class hierarchy ofDocumentTargetin Version 28.0. - New classes and members. The classes, properties, methods and events that the What's New documentation of the version lists, grouped by class, each linked to its current reference page.
- Legacy technology. The Document Editor features of these versions concern the ASP.NET Web Forms control
Web.TextControl, available since version 21.0, and the ASP.NET MVC extensionWeb.MVC.TextControl, available since version 23.0. Both run on the .NET Framework and are legacy technologies today, which ASP.NET on .NET Framework describes.
Where to Start
- Upgrading from one of these versions? Read the pages of every version between yours and 29.0 for their update notes, then Breaking Changes for the versions from 30.0 on.
- Looking for the version of a feature? Start with the table above, then open the version's page. Many reference pages of classes and members also state the version that introduced them.
- Replacing old members? Deprecated APIs lists the members that are obsolete today and their replacements.
