Breaking Changes
How much work does an upgrade of TX Text Control .NET Server take? Most versions run existing code unchanged, but some change a target framework, a package, a default port or the way a license is compiled. The changes of each major version from 34.0 back to 30.0, with the code to change, are described in one place, Breaking Changes in the Upgrade Guide, and the list below names the versions that have them.
Versions With Changes
- 34.0: the Document Editor backend port 4283, two Document Viewer packages, newer React and Angular versions and changed PDF output.
- 33.0: .NET 8 or higher, the Core and Classic engine packages, the new Document Editor backend and React 19.
- 32.0: the Document Editor middleware call in Program.cs, licensing without licenses.licx since Service Pack 2 and the PDF.js settings of the Document Viewer 32.2.1.
- 31.0: no change that requires work.
- 30.0: assemblies no longer registered in the global assembly cache (GAC), which affects licenses.licx.
- Versions before 30.0: API changes of 24.0 and 28.0. Older Versions describes those versions.
Read the entries of every version between yours and the target, as How to Use This List explains. Some changes arrived with a service pack or a web package version; Service Packs lists what each service pack changed.
